Welcome

Welcome to this new space!

I have been drawn to writing since I was little.  Like an old friend, I've kept coming back: during challenging times, exciting times, confusing times...and, just, times.  Within the past decade, I've attempted to put my thoughts out digitally (aka: in a blog); and with each big transition, I've opened up a new space for these thoughts.

Well, I've kind of been torn between my thoughts on blogging...Like, why??  I mean..ultimately, when I write, I do it for myself.  Sooo...why??   I suppose, in the past, I have done it to document a trip or a big move.  This helps keeps family/friends in the loop, and also allows me to process the experience.  Though it was never (*rarely*) perfect, and I typically ended up with large pauses in-between posts, and blogs that just kind of....ended, inconclusively....it made sense.  But what about a blog for times when nothing extremely monumental is happening? What would be the point??

The major justification, I decided, lies in connection.  We learn from each other when allow for vulnerability.  I mean, if we're really going down this rabbit hole, we could ask ourselves, 'Why do authors write?  Why painters paint?  Why to musicians pour their souls into their music and perform it publicly in front of thousands of people??'.  Why do any of us do anything publicly for that matter...
Expression, passion, connection.  I suppose this is why I've decided to write in this space.  If you don't get anything out of it, at the very least know these two things:

1. I am speaking from the heart.
2. I am allowing myself to be vulnerable.

So take it easy on me... ;)

Addendum:
I keep hearing my high school English teachers' voices running through my head in regards to this post: 'I think you could use a stronger hook'.  The ghosts of my English teachers are probably right...especially for the first post of this entire blog.  Well, while I'm tempted just to rewrite and edit the heck out of the whole thing, for now, I'm just going to leave you with this and hope you keep reading...
